Underfloor heating is not compatible with solid wood flooring and parquet blocks are classified as such.
However, there are engineered parquet flooring blocks. Like any engineered flooring, these blocks have a real wood top layer (and finish of your choice) and are designed to reduce timber contraction, despite the temperature changes. The top layer of the blocks and their sizes vary, but you will usually find them pre-finished, which saves a bit on the service side. Ideally, you should be looking for a block which has a 4-6 mm top layer, as this will give you a longer life span of the flooring.
Bear in mind, that parquet flooring blocks are glued down on subfloors with underfloor heating, which means you'd like the new flooring to stay as long as possible.
Another point to consider in case you want to go for a herringbone pattern is that factory-finished blocks cannot go with a border around - it will be plain herringbone wall-to-wall.
Prices for laying parquet flooring blocks vary between £40 - £50 per sqm with us. We have extra charges for door trimming, skirting/beading installation and subfloor levelling if required.
